  Initial Request

Hello,

Good morning. I have a question about using "grib_stat" for CSI plot.
Here is my script and config files:
/gpfs/dell2/emc/modeling/noscrub/Binyu.Wang/MET/grid2grid/verf_met_ens/ush/verf_g2g_Raikoke_CSI.sh

/gpfs/dell2/emc/modeling/noscrub/Binyu.Wang/MET/grid2grid/verf_met_ens/parm/verf_g2g_grid_stat_config_Raikoke_csi

I used "grib_stat" and I did get "CSI" in the output file:
/gpfs/dell2/emc/modeling/noscrub/Binyu.Wang/MET/stat_csi/met_Raikoke_stat/*txt

My question is:
I only find "NBR_CSI" in the METViwer (Y1 dependent variable) , is this the
same thing as "CSI"? I didn't find any information for "NBR_CSI" from MET
documentation.
Also why it is" CSI" in the output *nbrcts.txt, but I can only find
"NBR_CSI" in METViewer?

Thank you and have a nice day.
Binyu

Binyu,

I see you have questions about how to determine which CSI you are
using in
METviewer.

CSI can be computed for either a single grid-point or for a
neighborhood of
points. The computation of the score is the same. The equation can
be
found in Appendix C of the User's Guide. In METviewer, NBR is
prepended to
the statistic name, in this case CSI, so a user knows that the
neighborhood
method was used for the computation. It is not prepended in the
nbrcts.txt
file because it is assumed the user knows they are looking at scores
computed using neighborhood methods.

If you also had the CTS line type output flag turned on when running
Grid-Stat as well you would then see a CSI (computed at each grid
point)
and a NBR_CSI (computed over a neighborhood) in METviewer.

Hopefully this helps clarify what is going on. If not, the next step
is
for me to ask someone to pull your data and/or have you put it up on
AWS so
I can look at it.

Cheers, Tara
