Hi John,
We currently have a beta version of a histogram plot (implemented in
Python Plotly) in the METplotpy repository but no documentation on how
to set up the corresponding YAML file. If you are interested, you can
take a look at the code at
github.com/dtcenter/METplotpy/metplotpy/plots/histogram and see if
there is anything you can leverage. We will have a 1.0 release in
March 2021. METviewer does not yet support netCDF input.

Thanks for following up with this info. I was able to run ncdump to
produce a listing of the histogram data which I imported into a text
file and then into 2016 Excel which now has a built-in histogram plot
capability. I used that to produce histogram plots which worked well
for the 1-D histograms. I haven't tried this for the 2-D histogram
data yet. You can close this ticket if you want.
