  Initial Request

Hi, there,

There seems to be a new issue with matching verification times in METplus.
It seems that I am not able to get verification for valid times 18Z through
23Z on any given day, though verification between 00 and 17Z works just
fine.

The problem is the mismatch between the date code of the file and the valid
time of the file. The way we verify (at least for regional models) is to
use the NDAS prepbufr first guess that verifies at a certain time. Here is
a list of the problem verifying times (as an example):

prepbufr.nam.20190312.t00z.tm06.nc - valid time 18Z on 20190311
prepbufr.nam.20190312.t00z.tm05.nc - valid time 19Z on 20190311
prepbufr.nam.20190312.t00z.tm04.nc - valid time 20Z on 20190311
prepbufr.nam.20190312.t00z.tm03.nc - valid time 21Z on 20190311
prepbufr.nam.20190312.t00z.tm02.nc - valid time 22Z on 20190311
prepbufr.nam.20190312.t00z.tm01.nc - valid time 23Z on 20190311

I think that due to the mismatch of the prepbufr file's day has a mismatch
with the day of the valid time, I think METplus is skipping these hours.
Do you think you can help on this issue? I'm sorry about the earlier
declarations of it being done, there was so much to look at I didn't even
notice this issue until just now.

You can take a look at the conf files in this directory:
/meso/save/Perry.Shafran/METplus.dev/parm/use_cases/perry. Be sure you use
the fix that Mallory put in for the python ush file point_stat_wrapper.py
(located in my ush directory) when testing this. It points to WCOSS
production NAM directories.

Let me know if you need any further assistance in this.

Thanks!

Perry

Hi Perry,

I believe the latest version of METplus should handle this case now. I
am closing this ticket unless you are still having issues getting it
to work.

Thanks,
George
