Hello,

The following error is displayed while running "make test" after successfully installing MET8.1

*** Running ASCII2NC to reformat ASCII point observations into NetCDF ***
../src/tools/other/ascii2nc/ascii2nc \
    ../data/sample_obs/ascii/sample_ascii_obs.txt \
    ../out/ascii2nc/sample_ascii.nc \
    -v 2
ERROR  :
ERROR  : CommandLine::is_switch(const char *) const -> empty string!
ERROR  :
make[1]: *** [mk/ascii2nc.mk:23: ascii2nc] Error 1

I had this with compiling GCC 6.3.1 or higer.

Jagdeep,

One of our developers also ran across this behavior when compiling
with
newer versions of the GNU compilers, as described in this develop
issue:
https://github.com/NCAR/MET/issues/1139

We are actively working on a bugfix release (met-8.1.1) and this will
be
fixed in it.  We hope to release it today or tomorrow.  Please retest
with
the updated version, once its available.

If you haven't already subscribed for updates for the MET software,
you can
do so here:
    https://dtcenter.org/community-code/model-evaluation-tools-
met/subscribe
That way you'll get an email when met-8.1.1 is ready.
