Hi, I’m working with the MET implementation of MODE. I use as the forecast
the regional WRF from Argentina (grib files) and as the observation, the
satellite images from IMERG (HDF5 files).
Can Met read HDF5 files? I know the LIDAR2NC tool works with Calipso HDF
data file but it is different to satellite images HDF5 data files and this
tool doesn´t work with my observations. So I converted this HDF5 files
(Imerg data) to NETCDF files with NCO but something it´s wrong because when
I use the Regrid data Plane Tool (to regrid de IMERG netcdf file to the
regional WRF grid) and when I use MODE, I have this:

Natali,
Sorry for the delay. I did grab the imerg file and took a look. I
see
it’s in HDF5 and MET is unable to read it. I’d been hoping to play
around
with it a bit to see if I could offer any useful suggestions, but
wasn’t
able to.
Unfortunately, file formats are often a big headache. Ideally we’d be
able
to enhance MET to read it but don’t have time/funding to do so right
now.
I did see your other ticket about MET placing your output on the wrong
spot
on the earth. I suspect there’s some issue in how MET is parsing the
grid
info.
Thanks for sending the sample data file. We’ll let you know what we
find.
