  Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------

To whom it may concern:

I am Yunsung Hwang and I am fairly new to MET. I am trying to use
MODE-time-domain to track MCSs using precipitation and I successfully
installed met 8.0 with libraries such as NetCDF, hdf5, GSL, BUFRLIB ...

I also followed tutorials to obtain some of the results form MODE, and MTD.
I would like to shift to the case what I have. I am not sure where to
start. Right now, I have 3D wrf out file that is in NetCDF format, however
I am not sure how to put those into MET. I also searched to figure out I
can convert files using WRF_interp, however I encountered library problem
related with NetCDF.

in README, it is said

ifort -o wrf_interp.exe -traceback -fpe0 -check all -ftrapuv -unroll0 -u
-fp-stack-check -fpe-all=0 -no-ftz -O0 wrf_interp.F90

to obtain WRF_interp.exe, however I encountered

/tmp/ifortYYFRCz.o: In function `MAIN__':

which was somewhat related to NetCDF library which I properly set to the
location in LD_LIBRARY_PATH in .basrc.

Is there someone who can help me out to generate NetCDF file that can be
digested in MET?

Many thanks

Best regards,
Yunsung Hwang

Yunsung,

It sounds like you're having trouble compiling the wrf_interp utility.
While wrf_interp is an option, we typically recommend that users
post-process their WRF output using the Unified Post-Processor (UPP).
UPP
is supported by the DTC (as is MET). Here's the corresponding
website:
   https://dtcenter.org/upp/users/

The output of UPP is GRIB1 or GRIB2, both of which MET should handle
well.

If you choose to go with UPP, you can email questions to upp-
help at ucar.edu.
If you choose to stick with wrf_interp, please see this website for
how to
get help with WRF:
    http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/supports/wrfhelp.html

Thanks,
John Halley Gotway

Thank you very much for your kind response.

I would rather use UPP then WRF_interp as you suggeted grib files to
be
input.

I will ask questions related to UPP to upp help email.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Yunsung Hwang
