  Initial Request

Hello,

When running analysis on HWRF output, does NCAR/UCAR have a repository of truth files for hurricanes (something like: track, wind, pressure)?

Can you point me where to find them?

Thanks,
Suzanna

Suzanna,

The truth data for hurricane tracks is called 'BEST; track data. The
'B'
of best is the motivation for the word 'BDECK'... for BEST track data.

NCAR does not maintain this data but it's freely available on an FTP
site
hosted by the National Hurricane Center.

Here's a link to the NHC page with a 5.9MB tar file for past Atlantic
Hurricane tracks:

Hope that helps.

Thanks,
John
