Thank you for attaching all of the files.

I see the following error in make_install.log:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lbufr

MET cannot find BUFRLIB. I see that you have set:

MET_BUFR='/home/zzheng25/local/libbufr.a'
MET_BUFRLIB='${MET_BUFR}/lib'

Only MET_BUFR *or* MET_BUFRLIB should be set. If libbufr.a is located
at
/home/zzheng25/local/, please only set

MET_BUFRLIB='/home/zzheng25/local/'

Please note that we do not want to provide the filename libbufr.a, but
only
the directory in which that file resides. Please unset the
environment
variable MET_BUFR and then set MET_BUFRLIB='/home/zzheng25/local/'.
Then,
please run "make clean", reconfigure MET, and try to re-install.
Hopefully, that will resolve the problem you are seeing.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Julie

Dear Julie,

Thank you for your help. However, I still can see the "error" in the
config.log file. Also, I cannot find "*** Finished Testing the Model
Evaluation Tools Project ***" in make_test.log. I don't know if I have
successfully installed it, because I found many "DEBUG" in
make_test.log file. Would you please give me some suggestions?

But the good news is that I didn't find any error in make_install.log
at this point

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

From: Julie Prestopnik

Hi Zhonghua.

I do believe you have a successful installation of MET, however, I
would
like to make sure that you have the latest version of met-6.0
including the
bugfixes since the release. I am wondering about this since you do
not
have "*** Finished Testing the Model Evaluation Tools Project ***" in
your
make_test.log. When we first released met-6.0, that message was
missing
from the end of the tests. However, STAT-Analysis is the last test
that is
run, and it appears to have run successfully for you. When we
released the
patches, that message was included in the tests, so I suspect you are
missing the patches. There was a significant bugfix in the patches, so
I
would suggest that you get and install those as well.

You can download the patch file (met-6.0_patches_20170419.tar.gz
<http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/known_issues/METv6.0/patches/met-
6.0_patches_20170419.tar.gz>)
from this location
http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/known_issues/METv6.0/index.php

Copy it into your top level met-6.0 directory. Then, run "make
clean",
reconfigure and reinstall MET. After that, you should be able to
rerun the
tests and should see the "*** Finished Testing the Model Evaluation
Tools
Project ***" message in your make_test.log file.

Please let us know how that goes.

Dear Julie,

Thank you for your time! Now I install the patches as you suggested
and it works now. Very cool.
But there is a little concern about the error in config.log. It seems
it doesn't matter at this point.

I really appreciate your help.

Hi Zhonghua.

I do believe you have a successful installation of MET, however, I
would
like to make sure that you have the latest version of met-6.0
including the
bugfixes since the release. I am wondering about this since you do not
have "*** Finished Testing the Model Evaluation Tools Project ***" in
your
make_test.log. When we first released met-6.0, that message was
missing
from the end of the tests. However, STAT-Analysis is the last test
that is
run, and it appears to have run successfully for you. When we released
the
patches, that message was included in the tests, so I suspect you are
missing the patches. There was a significant bugfix in the patches, so
I
would suggest that you get and install those as well.

You can download the patch file (met-6.0_patches_20170419.tar.gz
<http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/known_issues/METv6.0/patches/met-
6.0_patches_20170419.tar.gz>)
from this location
http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/known_issues/METv6.0/index.php

Copy it into your top level met-6.0 directory. Then, run "make clean",
reconfigure and reinstall MET. After that, you should be able to rerun
the
tests and should see the "*** Finished Testing the Model Evaluation
Tools
Project ***" message in your make_test.log file.

Please let us know how that goes.

You're very welcome. Yes, I believe we can safely ignore the errors
in the
config.log file. I'll go ahead and close this ticket. Please feel
free to
start a new ticket if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Dear Julie,

I'm sorry to bother you again. I tried to install MET6.0 in a server

computer. However, it didn't work when I tested. Attached are the
make_install.log, config.log, and make_test.log.
The test aborted due to [ascii2nc] Segmentation fault. Would you
please give me some suggestions?

Subject: MET make failed
From: Julie Prestopnik

Hi Zhonghua. I believe there may be a problem with NetCDF.
Throughout
your make_install.log file, I see:

/usr/bin/ld: warning: libnetcdf.so.11, needed by
/home/zzheng25/metinstall//lib/libnetcdf_c++4.so, may conflict with
libnetcdf.so.7

which did not exist in your other make_install.log file for your
personal
computer.

In your config.log file, I see the following are set:

MET_NETCDF='/home/zzheng25/metinstall/'
MET_NETCDFINC='/home/zzheng25/local/include'
MET_NETCDFLIB='/home/zzheng25/local/lib'

Either MET_NETCDF *or* MET_NETCDFINC *and *MET_NETCDFLIB need to be
set. If
the NetCDF include files are in /home/zzheng25/local/include and the
NetCDF
library files are in /home/zzheng25/local/lib, please unset the
MET_NETCDF
environment variable, then run "make clean", reconfigure, and then run
"make install" and "make test" again.

Please give that a try and let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

Julie

Also, to follow up, the warning indicated that libnetcdf.so.11 is
needed by
/home/zzheng25/metinstall//lib/libnetcdf_c++4.so, so please check to
make
sure that you have the correct files in the location that you set your
MET
NetCDF environment variables to.  Thanks!

Subject: MET make failed
From: Zheng, Zhonghua

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your reply. Is there any library that I need to install
for libnetcdf.so.11? Is is a part of the libraries (hdf5, GSL, Netcdf)
from the DTC website that I installed for MET?

Thanks,
Zhonghua

Also, to follow up, the warning indicated that libnetcdf.so.11 is
needed by
/home/zzheng25/metinstall//lib/libnetcdf_c++4.so, so please check to
make
sure that you have the correct files in the location that you set your
MET
NetCDF environment variables to. Thanks!
