I talked to Kathryn about this earlier today.

We're currently still developing and testing MET version 5.1 for
release by
the end of September.  However, the GSI tools are pretty stable and
are
included in a beta release of the code.  You're welcome to try them
out and
let us know if you have any comments or suggestions.

I posted that beta release to our anonymous ftp site:
