Hi John. 
This is a query reg the Mode tool. 
I have some basic questions. 
1. I have 24 and 48 hrs PPTn FCST from the model and Observed data (each is day wise).

2. I want to know how can I run the MODEtool. will it require ONE FCST and ONE OBSERVATION file.???? I have both NC files. 

Can U pls get me started????

Geeta,

Yes, you can run MODE to compare your 24-hour forecast accumulation to
your
24-hour observed accumulation, assuming they're already on the same
grid.
You run MODE once for each comparison you'd like to make.  Once you
decide
which forecast file should be compared with which observation file,
you
should call MODE like this:
   mode forecast_file observation_file config_file

How you set up the config file depends on what version of MET you're
running.  Looks like you're using METv3.0 - is that correct?  If
you're
using METv3.0 (which is pretty old), take a look in this example
config
file:
  METv3.0/scripts/config/WrfModeConfig_APCP_24

Notice the following setting:
   obs_field  = "APCP_24(*,*)";

If you're using the output of pcp_combine and your NetCDF variables
are
named "APCP_24", you should set both "fcst_field" and "obs_field" to
"APCP_24(*,*)".

If you have more trouble getting going, please copy a sample forecast
and
observation file to our anonymous ftp site following these
instructions:
   http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/met_help.php#ftp
