Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
I am pleased to say that I have got MODE to run successfully and have
some output. The question I have is really a cosmetic one. There seems
to be a problem with plotting the map background across the date line
180E/W for global fields. The actual fields are not affected. Attached
is an example map from the MODE ps output, and what it should look like.
I have looked in the maps subdir but can't work out how I might fix it.
Before I send you the grib files is there anything obvious I can try?
Thanks
Marion

Hi Marion,
Glad you got MODE to run.
It actually would probably be easiest to debug this issue using your
data. Can you please send me your MODE input files:
- forecast file, observation file, and config file
You can post them to our anonymous ftp site using the following
directions:
http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/met_help.php#ftp
Just to be sure, what version of MET are you running?
Please let me know when those files are posted, and I'll grab them and
debug this.
Thanks,
John

Hello John,
all done. I have not updated to v3.1 yet. Just haven't had a quiet
moment.

Marion,
Thanks for sending those data files. I ran them through METv3.0.1 and
reproduced the behavior you're seeing.
Fortunately though, when I ran them through METv3.1, the pictures look
much nicer (see attached). So we must have fixed that along the way!
So upgrading to the latest version should do the trick.
Thanks,
John

Hello John,
I have the v3.1 compiled with patches. I will say that the code is
structured a bit differently, with the use of the user_defs files.
Also
the directory structure has changed... I think we may develop a fairly
enthusiastic MetO user community once they see the tool in action ...
I
really hope that this project we are working on will provide results
that will convince them!
I'll let you know how I get on but for now I think we can close the
query.
Thanks!
