  Initial Request

At present I am using Point-stat and Grid-stat to evaluate performance
of several forecast parameters including windspeed (Grib code "032" or
"WIND"). However, the forecasts I am verifying and feeding into MET
include only u and v components of wind (Grib codes 33 and 34,
respectively). I assume (since I am getting output) that MET is capable
of (and is currently performing) conversion between u and v components
into windspeed and then comparing that windspeed to the correct
windspeed. Am I correct?

Hi Jackie,

Yes, if you put u and v into MET, it will derive wind speed for you.
Other variables that MET can derive include dewpoint, relative
humidity, mixing ration, and pressure at MSL.

Please let us know if you additional questions.

Tressa
