[Met_help] [rt.rap.ucar.edu #38811] History for Wind Thresholds

  Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------

I know you guys are probably sick of hearing from me but I have another
question. Now that I am finally running point stat with the updated version
of MET, I am not getting data for all the wind thresholds I want. Attached
is the config file I am using. When I had the threshold set to gt7.7 and
higher, I only got data for gt7.7. Then I added the NA (no threshold case
to the list) and now I only have data for NA case.

So, what am I doing wrong in the config file?

thanks

Bob,

I'm afraid the grib file you sent was corrupted, perhaps because it
was too
large for an email attachment. The obs file seems to be ok. Can you
please
post the grib file to our anonymous ftp site as described below:

ftp ftp.rap.ucar.edu
username = anonymous
password = craigr at offutt.af.mil
cd incoming/irap/met_help/craig_data
put qc_100622_us057g1011t02b060004800
bye

Thanks,

Paul

Bob,

The comment in the point_stat_config file shows the format of the
fcst_wind_thresh list should be as follows:

// e.g. fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "NA", "ge1.0" ];

Your fcst_wind_thresh list is:

fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "NA gt7.7 gt10.3 gt12.9 gt18" ];

I changed this to the following format, and point_stat was able to
find pairs at
the higher thresholds.

fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "gt7.7", "gt10.3", "gt12.9", "gt18" ];

Paul

I don't know how I missed that. By the way, where is the
"stat_job_aggr_wdir" stat analysis job?

Thanks

Bob,

The comment in the
point_stat_config file shows the format of the
fcst_wind_thresh list
should be as follows:

// e.g. fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "NA", "ge1.0"
];

Your fcst_wind_thresh list is:

fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "NA
gt7.7 gt10.3 gt12.9 gt18" ];

I changed this to the following
format, and point_stat was able to find pairs at
the higher
thresholds.

fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "gt7.7", "gt10.3", "gt12.9",
"gt18" ];

Paul, I now remember now that I tried this awhile back. When I do I
get the following error:

ERROR: PointStatConfInfo::process_config()
-> The number fcst_thresh levels provided must match the number of
fiel
ds provided in fcst_field.

Do I need to have a U/V pair in
the Fcst Field for each threshold? How did you get my config file to
work with out getting this error?

Thanks

Bob

Bob,

The comment in the
point_stat_config file shows the format of the
fcst_wind_thresh list
should be as follows:

// e.g. fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "NA", "ge1.0"
];

Your fcst_wind_thresh list is:

fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "NA
gt7.7 gt10.3 gt12.9 gt18" ];

I changed this to the following
format, and point_stat was able to find pairs at
the higher
thresholds.

fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "gt7.7", "gt10.3", "gt12.9",
"gt18" ];

I used the attached point_stat_config file with the model and obs data

me (slightly renamed) to produce the following output. The only
change was the
one that I mentioned to fcst_wind_thresh.
