Joe,

OK.  So it sounds like there's something else going on here.  Please do send a couple of files to work on that demonstrate the problem.  You can FTP them to our anonymous ftp site as follows:

ftp ftp.rap.ucar.edu
username = anonymous
password = "your email address"
cd incoming/irap/met_help/eastman_data
put "your files"
bye

So please send us...
- Sample WRFOUT file that demonstrate the problem
- The "wrf_cntrl.parm" file you're using
- The script you're using to run WPP
- The output from WPP showing the error message you're seeing
