Joe,

One other piece of advice I forgot to mention.  I see that you're applying the CONUS polyline to define a verification masking region:
/work/jeastman/METv2.0/data/poly/CONUS.poly

That's certainly fine to do, but if you really end up running Point-Stat every 10 minutes, I'd suggest localizing that polyline to the domain your using by running it though the Gen-Poly-Mask tool.
That will basically create a NetCDF bitmap file consisting of a 0 or 1 at each grid point indicating whether the point inside the polyline or not.  Then, in the Point-Stat config file, point to that
NetCDF output of Gen-Poly-Mask rather than the ASCII polyline itself.  That'll make Point-Stat run a bit faster so that it doesn't have to recompute that bitmap for your grid each time it runs.
