Holly,

At this point, min/max temperature observations are not available for MET to use from PREPBUFR files. The PB2NC tool currently parses observations of type P, Q, T, Z, U, and V (pressure, specific
humidity, temp, height, u-wind, and v-wind) from the PREPBUFR files.

However in searching online (http://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/mmb/data_processing/prepbufr.doc/table_1.htm), it appears that the PREPBUFR files may in fact contain min/max temps in the "TMXMNSEQ" sequence
of observation values. But the PB2NC tool isn't currently parsing that data.

We really do need to take a closer look at the PREPBUFR files to see what additional observation types we can extract from them. But as of right now, that capability isn't in there.
