Dear colleagues and friends,
The University of Paris-Sud (Orsay) has received funding from the
European Union to support 16 two-year positions for junior
(< PhD + 6 years) researchers currently working outside of France.
Citizens of any country are eligible, including French citizens who
have spent no more than a year in France during the past 3 years.
Candidates choose their own research projects and host laboratories.
In addition to a salary of 2450 euros/month (net), successful
applicants will receive a monthly mobility allowance (the amount
depending on family status), a yearly travel allowance, and
20K euros of research support per year. The first call for applications
is currently open and will close on June 30 2011. A second (more
restricted) call will be open from January-March 2012. Detailed
information about the program and the application procedure can be
found at http://www.rbuce-up.eu.
Among the possible host laboratories in Orsay is FAST
(http://www.fast.u-psud.fr), which carries out research on a broad
range of topics in fluid mechanics including turbulence, thermal
convection, granular flows, free-surface flows, reacting flows, flow
in porous and fractured media, soft matter, and geophysical flows.
Candidates interested in working at FAST are encouraged to contact
me directly (ribe at fast.u-psud.fr).
Thanks in advance for bringing this opportunity to the attention
of any potential candidates whom you may know.
Yours sincerely
Neil Ribe
Director, FAST
