*The application deadline for our Early-Career Research Fellowship (Track
One: Human Health and Community Resilience) is approaching. *

The Early-Career Research Fellowship will provide support for scientists,
engineers, and health professionals at the critical pre-tenure phase of
their careers. The Human Health and Community Resilience track focuses on
contributing to the advancement of health equity in the Gulf of Mexico
region or Alaska by considering the social determinants of health.
*Applicants must:*

   - Hold a permanent position in industry, academia, or a research
   organization.
   - Be an early-career scientist.
   - Hold a doctoral degree relevant to the charge of the Gulf Research
   Program.
   - Be affiliated with a non-federal U.S. institution.
   - Not be currently employed by the U.S. federal government.

*Research funding*
Fellows will receive $75,000 to use for research-related expenses,
including equipment purchases, professional travel, professional
development courses, trainee support, salary, or any other costs directly
related to the fellow’s research. The use of these funds for any other
expenses requires pre-approval from the Gulf Research Program.

The Science Policy Fellowship is an educational opportunity that provides
fellows with valuable experience through a one-year work experience
placement. Fellows are placed on the staff of federal, state, local, or
non-governmental environmental, natural resource, oil and gas, and public
health agencies in the Gulf of Mexico region.
*Applicants must:*

   - Be currently enrolled in a doctoral program or hold an eligible degree
   (MA/MS, MPH/MSPH, PhD, ScD, EngD, MD, DrPH, and DVM).
   - Come from an area of research relevant to the charge of the Gulf
   Research Program.
   - Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
   - Not be currently employed by the U.S. federal government.

*Stipend*
Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $55,000-$60,000, dependent on
degree. $5,000 in additional support will be provided as reimbursement for
tuition, professional development courses, and/or professional travel
related to their host office duties. Fellows will also receive a $1,000
one-time payment to offset costs association with relocation.
