*Postdoctoral research associate in tropical cyclone rapid intensification*

*Description:* The Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at
the University at Albany is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to
perform research on tropical cyclone rapid intensification. The research
will utilize high-resolution modeling, including at large-eddy scales, to
investigate how mesoscale processes, boundary-layer processes, and
multiscale interactions contribute to the onset of rapid intensification.

*Qualifications:*
· Ph.D. in atmospheric science, or related discipline, conferred
within the last three years, from a college or university accredited by the
U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting
organization. The Ph.D. must be conferred before the start date
of the postdoctoral position.
· Experience with numerical modeling, preferably at high resolutions
· Experience with data analysis and visualization, preferably with
large datasets
· Ability to work both independently and as a team
· Excellent oral and written communication skills

*Start:* August 2020, or earlier

*Appointment:* One year, renewable for one additional year

*Location:* Albany, New York. Provided funds are available, the
postdoctoral research associate will visit the National Center for
Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado to work with project
collaborators for up to three months in each year.

*How to apply:* Applicants are asked to submit electronically:
· A curriculum vitae
· The names and contact information of three individuals who can
provide a letter of reference
· A personal statement – which should discuss your past research,
professional goals, and ability to work with others, including diverse
populations

Please submit the application materials, as a single PDF, to Dr. Brian Tang
(btang at albany.edu).

*Application deadline:* 29 February 2020

Questions about this position may be directed to Dr. Brian Tang (
btang at albany.edu).
