[Grad-postdoc-assn] Seeking mentors for a student dinner next Wed.

Dear all,

We are hosting the NCAR Undergraduate Leadership Workshop next week and are
looking for a few grad students, postdocs, or professionals to be mentors
at dinner for undergraduates on Wednesday night. Please let me know if you
are interested.

*Mentoring Dinner with the ULW Students*
Wed., June 5th, 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Mesa Lab cafeteria - Dinner provided

*The Work Involved*
At 5:00 pm, each mentor will spend two minutes introducing themself, their
field of interest, and where they are in their educational or career path.
Then each of them will sit at a table and the students will join according
to who they'd like to talk to. We would have dinner (a fajitas buffet)
together.

The ULW participants are from all over the country and are either studying
or interested in learning about climate and atmospheric science or
meteorology. We are hoping to give them a chance to talk to grad students,
postdocs, and professionals.

There are 25 students and so having 4-5 people will make it nice to have
small table conversations. After 20 minutes or so we will suggest that they
switch to a new table if they want to talk to someone else.  It would wrap
up by 6:30 or so.

In a survey about which career paths are they interested in learning about,
the responses were as shown in the graph below.

We need about 3-5 people.  Please let me know if you are interested, and if
so, what your area of interest is, whether you are a grad student, postdoc,
in the workforce and if so, in which sector you work.

This event is really fun and quite rewarding.
