Dear grad students and postdocs,
Please join us on for a media training for scientists hosted by Ali
Branscombe and David Hosansky in the Communications Office of UCAR. This
will include a short presentation followed by active participation in the
workshop that gives you practice and training for talking to journalists
about your research science.
*Media Training for Scientists*
David Hosansky and Ali Branscombe
Friday Aug. 16th
10:00 to 11:30
NCAR FL3-2072.
*Training Description*
What are the pros and cons of talking to a reporter? What does "off the
record" really mean? How do I get quoted in a science article? If you have
found yourself asking any of these questions, then media training is right
for you! The NCAR/UCAR media relations team has created a brief
introduction to talking to journalists, which covers how to take charge
during a media interview, avoid misquotes, create talking points, and much
more. Participants will walk away with a foundational understanding of the
best practices for talking to reporters and working with their
communications team.
Hope to see you there!
Valerie
