Dear all,

I'm writing to both invite you to a seminar on Thursday on "Creating a
LinkedIn profile," and to ask that you create/update your LinkedIn profile
beforehand. For example, consider adding a summary and a banner photo to
your page.

*Creating a LinkedIn Profile - a Seminar
<https://staff.ucar.edu/for-staff/daily/announcement-calendar-event/creating-linkedin-profile>*
Thurs. April 11, 9:00 - 10:00 am
NCAR Foothills Lab - Large Auditorium

The NCAR Fellows Association, which supports graduate students and
postdoctoral researchers at NCAR|UCAR, is presenting a workshop on creating
a LinkedIn profile. A polished LinkedIn profile gives you a presence on the
web where others will see your work and skills, and where you can build
professional connections. LinkedIn has become the go-to place for online
professional networking; in fact, it’s almost a given that you need a
LinkedIn profile to be taken seriously for a job opportunity. On LinkedIn,
you can:

   - Show your work experience and educational history
   - Attach documents like papers, scientific posters, and more
   - Write a summary of your skills and knowledge
   - Create connections with colleagues
   - Learn about potential employers and colleagues

Scott Mackaro will lead this seminar and provide insight into creating a
strong LinkedIn profile. Scott is a certified professional coach
specializing in career development. He does this work through The CORE (
http://theco.re), such as leading professional coaching seminars and
helping start-ups to establish a mission, vision statements, and strategic
business plans. Scott is an atmospheric scientist who has worked at NOAA,
Vaisala and is now at ClearAg.

All are welcome to attend.

Will this event be webcast to the public by NCAR|UCAR?:
Yes - FL2-1022 - http://ucarconnect.ucar.edu/live

This is also posted in the UCAR Staff Notes.
