Dear Colleagues,

I apologize for the impersonal email (even if it is only being directed to
individuals … and feel free to keep it that way), but I am trying to
strengthen our work in the area of climate dynamics, and hoped to cast a
broad net.

We are advertising two post-doctoral fellowships targeted toward recent
PhDs, preferably with interests and strengths in how the large-scale
atmospheric circulation responds to warming — perhaps as mediated by
processes on smaller scales:

https://www.mpimet.mpg.de/en/institute/opportunities/mpim-w052/

The positions are initially for two years, but are intended as a way for
the candidates to develop their own research profile; it is hoped that the
successful applicants will, after a two year appointment, be in a position
to take advantage of opportunities to extend the positions (through our own
internal or external funding) in ways that allow them to build and lead a
research group on their topic of expertise and thus qualify them for a
permanent faculty/researcher position.

That all said we have freedom in how we define the positions, so what is by
far the most important is to attract creative young people, so it would be
helpful if you interpret and distribute this announcement with this in mind.

Best wishes,

Bjorn
