Colleagues,

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) has a position open for a
post doctoral fellow in the Center for STEM Research, Education, and
Outreach. The fellow will be a critical part of a collaborative research
team studying the design and development of an out-of-school-time program
for minority girls focused on computational thinking. The position will
encompass all aspects of research, including designing and implementing
protocols, recruiting and communicating with subjects, collecting and
analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, writing reports for research
agencies and research articles for peer reviewed publications, and
presenting the research results at conferences. The fellow will also direct
the work of a graduate research assistant.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in STEM education, experience with
mixed/qualitative research methods and/or design and development, and
experience interacting with youth in informal settings. The ideal candidate
will:

· be able to work independently and meet a variety of deadlines,

· be flexible in adapting to changes in work flow,

· have a strong ability to communicate effectively (orally and in
writing) with adult collaborators and youth program participants,

· be able to follow-through on multiple project tasks with attention
to detail, and

· thrive in a collaborative work environment.

The position is a full-time 12-month appointment with possibility of
renewal.

Candidates with a strong commitment to the promotion of diversity in STEM
and STEM education are encouraged to apply.

The SIUE STEM Center is a dynamic, team-oriented university research center
established in 2010. We work with faculty members across the university and
external partners to promote and support STEM education in the southwestern
Illinois region and conduct research on teaching and learning that informs
practice.

Beautifully situated on 2,660 acres of rolling land and woods, SIUE is
located 30 minutes from St. Louis, affording many opportunities for
collaboration with other universities, industry, and community-based
organizations.
