[Grad-postdoc-assn] Fwd: Workshop on "Combatting Harassment at CU and in Geosciences"

Tue Apr 3 12:10:39 MDT 2018

Hello again,

It sounds like the issue of submitting your name in advance only applies to
the session at NOAA on April 12th. The other two at CU Boulder on April 10
& 11 don't require that.

Thanks,

Val

Dear those of you in Boulder,

I have checked with Susan Sullivan who is organizing these, and they are
open to NCAR|UCAR postdocs and grad students. It helps to understand how
these processes of reporting sexual harassment work at a university and in
science societies, as you may need to know how to support your own grad
student on issues like this one day, amongst other things. It honestly
could be a benefit knowing about this during job interviews, as well. We
encourage you to consider attending. I'm not sure about the process of
submitting one's name to campus security - if anyone knows more, let us
know. In the past, I've attended events on campus without doing that, so
it is new to me.

Valerie

*COMBATTING HARASSMENT AT CU AND IN GEOSCIENCES*

The workshop “Combatting Harassment at CU and in Geosciences” will be
offered on (3) different dates and locations listed below. In this
workshop you will learn how to work through complexities of reporting
problematic behaviors and learn about different options at CU and through
geosciences professional organizations. Teresa Wroe from the CU Office of
Institutional Equity and Compliance will lead us through scenario-based
exercises applicable to our discipline. Practice your new skills in a safe
environment and meet others who are interested in these topics. Light
refreshments will be provided. This workshop meets the CU requirement for
training in harassment policy and reporting requirements.
