Do you remember a teacher or other adult who helped bring science alive
for you? Someone who encouraged your interest in math and science and
helped you make decisions about your life's work?

Would you like to fill that role for a high school intern?

The 2011 High School internships and Research Opportunities (HIRO)
Program is seeking science project mentors for high school students to
assist with research in various Labs, Divisions and Programs. Last year,
HIRO students worked on projects ranging from 'GIS mapping of severe
weather datasets using web-based tools' to 'Microwave-derived
temperature profiles from the HIPPO-1 Project'.

*2011 HIRO Program dates: Monday, June 27^th through Friday, August 5^th *

As a HIRO project mentor, you will:

    * model professional success
    * transfer necessary skills
    * provide relevant resources
    * advise about career options
    * provide inspiration and personal support

Project mentors spend about ten hours per week with their HIRO student
discussing the project, guiding research, teaching scientific methods,
and helping the student with their poster, which will be presented at
the SOARS Program Poster session on August 5th.

Previous experience is not required.
