Like its forerunners, this last ASP of the year seminar is a must see.
If the subject matter itself doesn't draw you in, please take into
consideration that coffee, tea, and countless other goodies will be
there for your consumption.

Title: The role of organic aerosols in cloud formation
Abstract: It is now well-established that organic compounds are
significant, and sometimes dominant, components of tropospheric
aerosols. Their interactions with water are important in estimating
their effects on visibility, climate and cloud formation. In general,
organic aerosol constituents appear to be less hygroscopic than ionic
species, but their phase behavior is not well understood. This talk will
review recent measurements of the hygroscopic behavior of atmospheric
and model organic aerosols, including species with limited solubility
and polymeric materials. Finally, methods for estimating organic aerosol
cloud-nucleating ability in the absence of detailed compositional
information are presented and evaluated.
Cheers,
Dan
