Hey Folks,

I just wanted to inform the community of the great work going on in the
Regional Climate Model Evaluation System (RCMES) project and its open
source technology backend, Apache Open Climate Workbench. We have released
version 0.1-incubating [1] and 0.2-inucbating is currently being VOTEd on
[2].

We also have a pretty vibrant wiki page that is filling up [3], and lots of
user activity going on right now including YouTube screencasts
demonstrating
how to use the toolkit to compare model output to observations, both
regionally,
and also globally. Please see the below screencasts which show how to
recreate
the entire diagram set from Kim et al. 2013 J. Climate paper [4]:

You can find out more information about JPL and UCLA's RCMES system here:

And more information about Apache Open Climate Workbench here:

We would appreciate any community contributions from the ESGF, and
of course, our project is an Apache open source project, so the merit
you earn from contributing to the project in the form of patches,
documentation,
general discussion on the mailing lists, and overall good will, should earn
you a VOTE'ing seat on the project. In other words, we follow the Apache
way:

Thanks for your time and looking forward to seeing you on

Cheers!

Chris
