[Go-essp-tech] Simplifying OpenID login

Hi all,

BADC has suggested previously a way of hiding OpenID URLs from the user and just show a list of OpenID providers instead.  We can demonstrate this on the production BADC  gateway at http://cmip-gw.badc.rl.ac.uk.  If you have an account at BADC you can login by simply selecting the link "Login at BADC".

This works by contacting the OpenID provider at the URL "https://ceda.ac.uk/openid".  The provider then prompts for username and password and redirects back to the gateway with the user's full OpenID.

This mechanism currently won't work with Gateway but we believe it would a great feature to support in future releases.  The feature is being tracked by issue GTWY-2102 (https://vets.development.ucar.edu/jira/browse/GTWY-2102).

We offer the BADC Gateway as an example of how it simplifies login for users.
