Luca,

I remember now cdat_lite needs revising with the latest changes from
CDAT.  The 64-bit support needs updating.  I was half way through it
when I had to change tack.  With that in mind I'll hold off for a couple
of days if that's OK so I can hopefully release a new cdat_lite version
with full 64-bit support and the CF checker.

I started thinking about this and then got swamped by other stuff.  The
status is that I've got the CF-checker working with out cdat_lite
package (http://proj.badc.rl.ac.uk/ndg/wiki/CdatLite).  It's included in
the SVN trunk version but not the distribution tarball.

cdat_lite is a few core parts of CDAT bundled together in a easy to
install form.  We use it extensively to deploy servers that need the
cdms library. 

The question is whether people would most like to have the CF-checker
bundled with cdat_lite or on it's own.  The datanode already installs
full CDAT so it's redundant to install cdat_lite too.  What would most
suite you?

For the moment I'll roll a new tarball with the CF checker so you can
take a look.

	how's going ? At the last GO-ESSP call a few weeks ago there was
some talk about making the official CF checker available as a
downloadable package... Would you have an update on this ?
I think NASA will need it soon to process their observational datasets
for CMIP5.
