Hi Folks

(to those of you who know I should be on hols, yes, I actually go out of
email contact tomorrow, so this is my third to last email ...)

This email is just to let folks know about some discussions at NCAR last
week that Michael L, myself, Eric N and Don had about ESG blockers.

This is a list of things that need to happen before ESG goes live,
recognising that we (ESGF) are now standing in the way of folk wanting
to publish data ...

In no particular order:

1) Replication (support for doing it, and for seeing it in the gateway)
2) Versioning ( support for doing it, and for seeing it in the gateway)
3) QC Tool (to create QC records, and to ingest them into the gateway)
4) Meta4 ingest into the gateway (it doesn't have to be *all* in before
we go live, as long as enough is there to convince that it will all be
there soon).
5) User managment tools, including for QC basd authorisatation (see
later email)
6) Security, including CA trust
7) Minimum download function: wget via proxy certificate; but has to
allow wget from any site with the data from any gateway.

There may of course be other things.

Cheers
Bryan
