Hello Gentle-people,
Today's talk will cover the data node version notification subsystem as
well as a discussion regarding the overall data node architecture that
supports this feature.
Goal:
To provide notification to data node users about version changes of
interest (files they have in their possession).
Notification Modes:
*email (currently)
(rss)
(sms)
May be expanded to provide notifications not only on file versions but
other information. Ex: System monitoring and metrics alerts, etc...
Notification process (mark and sweep):
1 users download files
2 publisher publishes version change (mark)
3 notification agent sends out message (sweep)
goto 1
Data Node Architecture:

Motivated by need to provide a place to plug notification into...
ESG Data Node Manager
- Manages and coordinates the constituent parts of the software stack
- Pluggable, architecture made to support any number of participating
modules.
- 'Always On' service for synchronous and asynchronous rpc calls.
