The September 30, 2003 DRAFT of The U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing
System (IOOS) Plan for Data Management and Communications (DMAC) is now
available for public comment at:
http://www.dmac.ocean.us/dacsc/imp_plan.jsp
Please submit your comments by e-mail to Contact_ DMAC@Ocean.US by
October 30, 2003.
The Plan was prepared by a Steering Committee (SC)
(http://www.dmac.ocean.us/dacsc/membership.jsp) appointed by the
Ocean.US office, the National Office for Integrated and Sustained Ocean
Observations. The DMAC-SC includes representatives from Federal and
state government agencies, academia, and industry, and was assisted in
its work by several expert and outreach teams (http:.//
<http://./www.dmac.ocean.us/dacsc/teams.jsp>
www.dmac.ocean.us/dacsc/teams.jsp). The DMAC subsystem is critical to
the success of IOOS because of its role in integrating marine data
streams across disciplines, institutions, time scales, and geographic
regions.
The Plan is divided into three sections, as follows:
* Part I DMAC Overview (for general readers)
* Part II DMAC System Implementation Plan (for technical
readers - formal requirements and detailed phased implementation plan)
* Part III Appendices (in-depth technical discussions of key
topics)
