Before I start coding again, I want to confirm that the documentation on the 
above page is still correct. I also have some specific questions.

It isn't clear to me what the relationship is between the DRS and the dataset 
id. In the wiki page, the example return from the getDatasetHierarchy() method 
includes a data element with an id attribute:

   <esg:dataset name="CCSM run b30.044e data" state="published"
    id="ucar.cgd.ccsm.b30.044e" />

Is the string assigned to this attribute using the same syntax as the DRS with 
a "." filling the role of "/" in DRS URLs?

Is the string from the id attribute of the dataset element the string that the 
getDataFiles() method expects? If the web service were passed that string 
("ucar.cgd.ccsm.b30.044e"), would it return an XML like the example in the wiki 
page?
