The Mountain Hydrology Research group at the University of Wyoming is hiring 1 Ph.D. student to start in Fall of 2027 for an NSF funded project. The successful applicant will be a research assistant (RA) on the topic of melt dynamics in mountain snowpacks.
The research will build upon previous research of liquid water flow through snow and hillslope runoff processes with a focus on modeling hillslope scale infiltration and runoff processes, though the project allows for a field work and/or remote sensing component
depending on the student’s interests. This project includes components that welcome applicants from a variety of scientific backgrounds including, but not limited to, hydrology, snow science, soil physics, geophysics, remote sensing, and analysis of large
datasets. Skills in programming (R, Matlab, or Python), GIS, and experience with winter fieldwork in mountain environments are highly desirable.</div>
