Course Description:

Climate change is the defining environmental problem of the 21st century. The effort to combat this threat has driven a surge in interest, technology development, and investment in renewable energy globally. The northeastern United States
is a regional leader in renewable energy because of investment driven by the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). Students in this course will gain a comprehensive understanding of renewable energy using the northeastern United States as a case study.
This course will examine principles and technology behind a variety of renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and geothermal. A strong emphasis will be placed on environmental impacts associated with developing and operating renewable
sources of energy.
