<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Fire Weather Monitoring: Monitor and analyze weather patterns, including temperature, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation to identify conditions conducive to wildfire ignition
and spread.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Modeling and Prediction: Collect, process, and analyze meteorological and fire danger data from various sources, including surface observations and wildland fire databases.
Utilize programming skills to collect, analyze, and display this information as needed. Utilize fire behavior models and historical data to predict fire growth, intensity, and direction. Provide real-time information to support firefighting efforts.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Risk Assessment: Assess wildfire risks associated with Xcel Energy’s infrastructure, transmission lines, and substations. Identify vulnerable areas and develop mitigation plans.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Early Warning Systems: Collaborate with emergency response teams to develop early warning systems for wildfire events. <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">- Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or related field.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">- Master’s degree preferred.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">- Previous experience in wildfire meteorology or fire behavior modeling.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">- Minimum of 3 years of experience in wildfire meteorology, weather forecasting, weather modeling, or related experience. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">- Experience with meteorological modeling tools, GIS software, and remote sensing tool. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">- Working knowledge of Python, R, Power BI, SQL preferred.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex weather data.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
