<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Helvetica">I am writing to advertise a fully-funded PhD project to work on tropical clouds and circulation at St Andrews, in collaboration with my colleague Dr Anna Mackie.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Helvetica">The project will involve running idealised simulations to advance understanding of how patterned tropical warming impacts circulation and cloud feedbacks. The position will be based in
St Andrews' School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and the start date will be approximately September 2025.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Helvetica">The PhD position is suitable for a student with an undergraduate/masters degree or equivalent in physics, mathematics, engineering, atmospheric science, computer science, or a related
field. <b>A strong background in mathematics and physics is more important than previous experience in climate science.</b> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
