<div>The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOS) invites applications at the assistant (tenure track) or associate professor (tenured) level with research broadly related to modeling, remote sensing, and/or analysis of climate and extreme weather
risk, impacts, or solutions. Applications are welcomed from researchers representing the full spectrum of the Earth System sciences (i.e., atmosphere, ocean, land, cryosphere, carbon cycle/biogeochemistry, etc), who utilize a variety of tools including AI-based
approaches, modeling, and/or observations to conduct their work. The expected start date is August 2025.</div>

</div>
<div>This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence Initiative centered on the theme of Environment: Adaptation, Resilience, Technology, and Humanity (RISE-EARTH). RISE-EARTH is intended to support scholarship that enables
resilient economic and environmental systems, decarbonization, and/or the energy transition.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>We especially encourage applications from individuals whose research 1) complements the AOS department's traditional strengths in climate and Earth System science, satellite remote sensing and meteorology, and atmosphere and ocean dynamics; and 2) builds
on our strong ties to closely related campus units, including the UW Space Sciences and Engineering Center (SSEC); the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS), the Data Science Institute (DSI); and the Nelson Institute's Center
for Climatic Research (CCR), Center for Sustainability and Global Environment (SAGE), and Energy Analysis and Policy (EAP) Program. The successful candidate will contribute to an environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff,
students and members of the broader community.</div>
