<div dir="ltr"><div>NC State is hiring a tenure-track assistant professor in synoptic meteorology:</div><div><br></div><div style="margin-left:40px"><div>The Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences (<span>MEAS</span>)
at North Carolina State University (NC State) seeks to hire a
tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in synoptic meteorology.</div><div><br></div><div>Desirable research areas include all aspects of weather systems: their prediction, dynamics, and impacts.</div><div><br></div><div>The
successful applicant will teach a senior-level course in NC State’s
undergraduate Atmospheric Science program: Synoptic Weather Analysis and
Forecasting. Additional course offerings may include undergraduate and
graduate classes in numerical weather forecasting, dynamics of synoptic
weather systems, data assimilation, and meteorological applications of
machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as other applied
or theoretical classes commensurate with the candidate’s interests and
expertise. The College of Sciences and <span>MEAS</span> places a high value on excellent instruction and the use of research-validated teaching methods.</div><div><br></div><div>Applicants
are expected to develop a cutting-edge and rigorous externally funded
research program. Opportunities exist for disciplinary and
interdisciplinary interactions with a wide range of scientists at NC
State. Applications are encouraged from candidates who apply modern data
analytics and statistical approaches, which could include machine
learning, artificial intelligence, and data assimilation, to the
prediction and analysis of weather. We welcome applications from
candidates with operational and application backgrounds, as well as from
