We're seeking a
talented federal research scientist to contribute to addressing
societal challenges via conducting innovative research involving
downscaled climate model simulations used in regional climate
impacts research studies.

We are looking for candidates who have experience...
Contributing to the development, evaluation, and application of
climate downscaling and bias correction software to create data
products relevant for climate impacts research.
AND
Participating in applied research and communication efforts to
advance scientific understanding and the translation of climate
projections to effective regional and local adaptation and
resilience measures.

As part of our team, your research activities will include
analyzing climate datasets generated at NOAA GFDL and elsewhere,
including observations, reanalysis products, climate model
outputs, and dynamical and statistically downscaled data
products. You'll be developing, evaluating, and implementing
bias correction and downscaling methods using statistical and/or
machine learning techniques. Your focus will be on the creation
of regionally refined climate data products tailored for use in
critical climate impact studies across various time scales,
including seasonal, decadal, and multi-decadal. By delving into
these datasets, you'll gain insights into climate,
meteorological, and hydrological phenomena that have the
potential for significant societal impacts. Ultimately, your
work will contribute to the creation of actionable science aimed
at addressing pressing environmental challenges of interest to
NOAA stakeholders.
