The Department of Geography at Ohio University is currently seeking applications for a one-year academic position (from August 16, 2024, to May 15, 2025) in <strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Synoptic and Mesoscale Meteorology</strong>, with the role of <strong style="box-sizing: border-box;">Visiting
Assistant Professor (non-tenure track)</strong>. Depending on departmental requirements, funding availability, and the candidate’s successful performance, there is a possibility of extending the position for up to two additional years.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;">

We seek an individual committed to excellent teaching, advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing to the environmental strengths within the Department of Geography. The position entails teaching five courses during the 2024-2025
academic year, including both synoptic and mesoscale meteorology, introductory meteorology, upper-level physical meteorology, and one course according to the candidate’s specialty and departmental needs. A Ph.D. in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Geography,
or an allied field at the time of appointment is preferred; <span class="caps" style="box-sizing: border-box;">ABD</span> candidates will also be considered.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;">

Ohio University is a four-year very high research activity (R1) public institution of over 20,000 students located in Athens, a progressive community situated in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio. The Department of Geography currently has 12 full-time
tenured faculty members, one full-time instructional faculty member, around 150 undergraduate majors and over a dozen masters students. Within Geography are a range of degree programs including Climate, environment and society, GIScience, Urban planning and
sustainability, Broadcast meteorology, and Meteorology. The Meteorology and Broadcast meteorology tracks combined currently have over 50 undergraduate majors and minors. The newly renovated Scalia Laboratory for Atmospheric Analysis supports teaching and research
in meteorology, climatology, and forecasting, and provides numerous experiential learning opportunities, especially in the adjacent Geovisualization Center.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;">
