<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-ligatures:none">The Post-Doctoral Fellow’s job duties will contribute to a funded research and technical assistance project on measuring environmental outcomes of different rice production practices. Activities can include
a mix of investigations of soil impacts on grain arsenic dynamics and/or on greenhouse gas (CH4) emissions in rice production fields to resolve uncertainties related to the impacts of different climate-smart management strategies from differing clay and soil
organic matter conditions. This position will manage day-to-day data collection tasks, coordinate involvement between project participants, and will create papers and outreach materials based on the project findings. Field visits may be conducted in irrigated
and non-irrigated agricultural fields in Arkansas and other states. The project will investigate the impacts of land cover and management practices on biophysical properties, carbon uptake, and greenhouse gas emissions, and may involve novel tools and instrumentation.

The Post-Doctoral fellow will interface with scientists from a number of institutions and disciplines. The ultimate aim is to advance scientific understanding and improve NRCS technical assistance programs through measurements and the production of scientific
and science outreach materials. Other funded projects in the Runkle group could also support adjacent activities in soil-arsenic research or climate smart commodity and sustainability development.<br>
