<p>The Commission is seeking a water resource professional with a background in engineering and/or science to work in its Science and Water Quality Management branch. With technical guidance and training, the successful candidate will perform the following
activities:<o:p></o:p></p>
<ul type="disc">

Develop, maintain and apply water quality and hydrodynamic models, including one-, two- and three-dimensional models for conventional and toxic pollutants, of the tidal and non-tidal waters of the Delaware River Basin;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Plan and conduct field investigations such as water quality monitoring studies in support of model development and calibration;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Support planning and regulatory activities of the Commission that require models;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Compile, maintain and analyze databases on conventional and toxic pollutants;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Utilize statistical programs to assess trends and address management issues;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Develop data management tools for processing of model inputs and outputs using ArcGIS, Python, R and/or similar tools;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Work on cross-branch project teams under the direction of supervisors from other sections, as needed, for discrete projects;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Prepare effective reports and presentations of technical material for advisory committees, the public, the regulated community and government agencies;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Participate in external committees, meetings and conferences on behalf of the Commission, and;<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo1">
Assume other responsibilities, as assigned, to benefit the Commission.<o:p></o:p></li></ul>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Qualifications</span></strong><o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Oceanography or related discipline with an emphasis in water resources is required. A Ph.D. in
water resource management is desirable. Coursework related to hydrology, water quality, data science and water pollution control desired.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Experience: This is an early career position requiring 3+ years of professional experience for the E18 level or 8+ years experience for the E20 level; Ph.D. coursework/research in relevant field can be substituted for equivalent years of professional experience.
Expertise in hydrodynamic and/or water quality modeling of surface waters is preferred, as is proficiency with coding languages useful for data management and analyses such as R and Python.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Salary within the range specified will be determined based on education and experience.
