<html><head></head><body><div class="ydpe4cc9d6fyahoo-style-wrap" style="font-family:times new roman, new york, times, serif;font-size:16px;"><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;">Dear Colleagues,</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;"><br></div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;">The Environmental Geophysics Lab in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto is recruiting MS and PhD students (Fall 2024) to conduct research at the interface of near-surface geophysics and Arctic environmental science.</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;"><br></div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;">The student will use a combination of noninvasive field geophysical methods, field observations, geophysical modeling, remote sensing, and/or laboratory measurements to investigate permafrost dynamics, lake and drained lake basin systems, lake ice properties, and/or snow hydrology interactions in the Canadian Arctic and/or Subarctic regions.</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;"><br></div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;">The Environmental Geophysics Lab employs a variety of near-surface geophysical methods, including ground penetrating radar, transient electromagnetics, electrical resistivity tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, and seismic refraction and reflection.</div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;"><br></div><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 16px;">A background in geophysics, earth science/geoscience, cryosphere, geology, physics, engineering, or related fields is required.
