<span style="color:black">Candidacy is open to those with careers of outstanding achievement in their discipline as demonstrated by major contributions to new knowledge or the development of significant new modes of analysis. Individuals of all nationalities
and institutional affiliations are eligible except current or recent members of the Northwestern University faculty and recipients of the Nobel Prize. Nominations are retained and considered for the next award cycle as well. The Prize was created in 2018,
and past awardees were distinguished earth scientists Emily Brodsky, Katherine Freeman, and Francis Albarède. The recipient of the 2024 biennial prize will visit Northwestern for a week or more in 2024-2025 to interact with our faculty and students in Earth
