Head is the administrative and academic leader of the

responsible for leadership and administration of teaching,
research, extension, and service activities<span

position with an administrative stipend). <br>

of the undergraduate major and expansion of our analytical
capabilities in petrology and<span

is one of five academic departments in the Warner College of
Natural Resources. The other departments are: Forest and
Rangeland Stewardship; Fish, Wildlife and Conservation
Biology; Ecosystem Science and Sustainability; and Human
Dimensions of Natural Resources. General information about

<span style="background:white">The Department has 16
tenure-track and one full-time Master Instructor faculty.
Faculty expertise spans Earth surface processes, isotope
geochemistry, sedimentology, mineral deposits, solid Earth
and applied geophysics, structural geology, tectonics,
geodynamics, hydrogeology, paleoclimatology, glaciology
and petrology. The Department offers a B.S. undergraduate
major in Geology, with concentrations in geology,
hydrogeology, geophysics, environmental geology, and M.S.
and Ph.D. degrees in Geosciences. The Department currently
has approximately 100 undergraduate majors and 60 graduate
students.</span><br>

<strong><span
style="font-family:Merriweather;background:white">Mission: </span></strong><span
style="background:white">The mission of the Department of
Geosciences is to achieve excellence in teaching,
research, service, and outreach. Our curriculum prepares
students for careers in geosciences, including basic and
applied research, and the management of geological
resources, hence providing a comprehensive approach to the
study of geosciences. Research, service, and outreach
activities emphasize physical and chemical processes
affecting Earth’s interior and surface, as well as human
intervention to solve environmental and resource
management problems.</span><br>

<span style="background:white">Colorado State University is
a land grant university with about 33,000 students located
in Fort Collins, Colorado (population ~175,000). Fort
Collins residents enjoy a high quality of life, a
regionally moderate cost of living, and the city is often
rated as one of the best places to live in the United
States. The city has numerous bike paths, a vibrant
downtown, and is adjacent to the Rocky Mountains with easy
access to many outdoor activities. Fort Collins is
approximately 1-hour north of metropolitan Denver and the
Denver International Airport.</span></span></p>
