<span class="x_normaltextrun">The School of the Environment (SOE) at Washington State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Sustainable Forest Management Systems,
</span>to begin August 16, 2024.<span class="x_normaltextrun"> We seek applicants whose research and teaching addresses aspects of forest management and restoration at the landscape- and region-scales (which may incorporate non-forest elements), including ecosystem
based management approaches, managed disturbance regimes, transportation networks, harvest systems, silviculture, watershed protection, and structured decision-making tools or approaches. Research may involve maintenance, enhancement, and/or restoration of
habitats and diverse ecosystem services (such as wildlife, carbon cycling, water supply and recreation), optimization of environmental and economic outputs of managed forest ecosystems, spatial aspects of restoration, and/or development of novel forest management
practices with global change. Teaching will include courses on topics of silviculture, management systems, wildland fire/fuels management, and/or quantitative decision-making.
</span>SOE is an interdisciplinary academic unit with faculty that specialize in earth, environmental, and natural resource sciences.
<span class="x_normaltextrun">The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) develop an externally-funded and internationally recognized research program, (ii) publish research in high-impact, peer-reviewed outlets; (iii) teach undergraduate and graduate
courses in topics related to silviculture, forest management, and wildland fire/fuels (iv) recruit and effectively mentor diverse M.S. and Ph.D. students and undergraduate research assistants; (v) work collaboratively, respectfully, and productively with other
faculty, staff, and students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds; and (vi) serve university, professional, and/or public organizations from an ethical and evidence-based position.

<span class="x_xnormaltextrun">The Forest Ecology and Management Program in the School of the Environment at Washington State University (WSU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Teaching), Career Track faculty position with a focus on Forest and
Shrub Steppe Plant Ecology Instruction, to begin August 16, 2024, on the Pullman, WA campus. This is a nine month, initial three year fixed-term appointment with possibility of renewal. We seek applicants whose teaching can address aspects of natural resources,
ecology, plant identification (field botany), and management of western lands ecosystems. The successful applicant is expected to teach courses, including Disturbance Ecology, Arid Land Plants and Ecosystems, Introduction to Wildland Fire, Silviculture, Natural
Resource Ecology, and/or others. In addition, the hired individual will be expected to: (i) recruit and mentor undergraduate majors from diverse backgrounds; (ii) work collaboratively, respectfully, and productively with other faculty, staff, and students
