<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#444444">We seek to appoint a research fellow in atmospheric chemistry modelling within the Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science at the University of Leeds, as part of the ALPACA-UK
(AerosoL heterogeneous Processing as a source of oxidants in Cold winter Atmospheres: application to Alaska and UK) project. The ALPACA-UK project is the UK component of the international </span><a href="https://alpaca.community.uaf.edu/"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#B31B1B">ALPACA
(Alaskan Layered Pollution And Chemical Analysis) study</span></a><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#444444">, which involves more than 50 researchers from partner organizations across Europe and the USA. ALPACA aims to improve knowledge of
sources and chemical processing of air pollution under cold, dark conditions. The successful candidate will lead regional modelling using the WRF-Chem model, focusing on improving model simulation of oxidants and secondary pollutant formation during wintertime
in Fairbanks, Alaska, incorporating parameterisations based on novel laboratory experiments being undertaken by collaborators in the School of Chemistry as part of ALPACA-UK, and analysis of field measurements from the </span><a href="https://alpaca.community.uaf.edu/alpaca-field-study/"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#B31B1B">ALPACA-2022</span></a><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#444444"> field
campaign in Fairbanks.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#444444">We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher who will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in atmospheric science or climate science, including experience of running and analyzing numerical models
and knowledge of atmospheric aerosol or gas phase chemistry. You will also have a proven ability to tackle complex science problems using a combination of models and observations, and an enthusiasm to work closely with international collaborators. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
