<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 8pt;line-height:107%;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><b>The Bureau of Water Supply at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection seeks to hire a City Research
Scientist III for a position within Modeling Division, Water Resources
Management Directorate, located in Kingston, New York</b>. Under the general
direction of the Deputy Chief of Water Quality Modeling, the City Research
Scientist III will be responsible for developing, testing, and applying models
of water quality (WQ) for the City’s water supply reservoirs. Water quality
parameters of interest may include turbidity, nutrients, phytoplankton,
coliform, taste and odor causing compounds, and disinfection byproducts. The
City Research Scientist will investigate the effects of climate change, floods
and droughts, land use change, watershed management, and reservoir operations
on water quality using one, two, and three-dimensional reservoir/lake models
which simulate hydrodynamics and the fate and transport of water quality
constituents. The City Research Scientist will also ensure that water quality
modeling tasks are completed to support daily operations, Bureau programs,
requirements of the Filtration Avoidance Determination (FAD) and federal and
state water regulations.  They will work
collaboratively to build strong relationships with staff within the Bureau and
other bureaus within NYCDEP. </p>
